You Know Who You Are
Southern fiction fans —> people who love William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Flannery O’Connor, Harper Lee, Margaret Mitchell and the list goes on.
Why do I love you?
Because you are “my people.” (Trying not to sound too much like Rick Bragg when he says “my people”)
You know what it means to rock slowly on a front porch swing, drinking something cool, smelling a pot of fresh picked and shelled black-eyed peas cooking on the stove and a cast iron skillet of cornbread in the oven.
You know what it means to listen to old country radio and get a little rowdy on a Saturday night.
You know what it means to love fiercely, repent whole heartedly, laugh loudly, cry hard.
And, it’s not just “my people” who know these things and feel these things, but it is “my people” who express these things and understand these things the same way I do.
So, yes, I love (L-O-V-E) Southern Fiction fans!
If you are near Humble, Texas, this weekend, please stop by Half Price Books and give me the opportunity to meet you and tell you thank you in person!
And, of course, there will be a basket of goodies to win
What kind of guest would I be if I showed up empty-handed??

Well, TX is a bit of a drive for an Ohio girl, but you have a great signing! Take care!
Thanks, Laura
I’d love to come to Ohio for a book signing!! And to talk shop about Southern Fiction! And, since you’d be there, we could talk about YA too ;-p
We could talk YA Southern Fiction. Who’s writing in that genre?
Well, if you ever end up out this way, let me know!
Absolutely!
