Calling all independent bookstores/booksellers…

I am trying to put my money where my mouth is and support independent bookstores and independent booksellers … only, I can’t seem to find very many of them to support.
There are a few independent bookstores within driving distance, but guess what? None of these have a website. That’s incredibly unfortunate.
I love independent bookstores, and not just because I am an independent author. I loved independent bookstores long before I thought about becoming an indie author.
Most independent bookstores are amazing places run by bibliophiles who are helpful and friendly and usually serve up a good cup of coffee, some excellent background music, and always have spot on suggestions for books to add to your reading list.
The independent bookstore in Natchitoches, Louisiana, THE BOOK MERCHANT meets all of the criteria I listed above. Plus, the cat is fabulous, and the location couldn’t be better – historical downtown Natchitoches, love it.

If you are affiliated with an independent bookstore or if you are a fan of a particular one, PLEASE let me know. I am glad to help spread the word.

About melindamcguirewrites

The young man or woman writing today has forgotten the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself which alone can make good writing because only that is worth writing about, worth the agony and the sweat. ------ William Faulkner, Nobel Prize Speech, Stockholm, 1950

As sad as this is, many are not surviving the economic crisist of our country. We have none around us anymore either. Independent stores are so eclectic. It’s sad to lose them.

I am so lucky to live near some excellent ones. The Norwich Bookstore in Norwich, VT. The Yankee Bookshop in Woodstock, VT. The Andover Bookstore in Andover, MA. All excellent.
