It’s Valentine’s Day – let’s give a little love to Rosaline…

Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo?

Well, right now, I’m pretty much stalking you, Juliet.
But, about 5 hours ago, I was so in love with Rosaline that I wanted to die because she didn’t love me in return.

What?

Is it any wonder that we are so quick to jump right over Rosaline in Shakespeare’s story of Romeo and Juliet?

Really, let’s just get to the good stuff, right?

Wrong.

Right before Romeo meets Juliet – and I mean RIGHT before – he’s so distraught over Rosaline that he says he has a soul of lead and “under love’s heavy burden do I sink”

And, his love for Rosaline is no secret. Benvolio, his parents, even the priest know that he is crazy about this girl – who, until he sees Juliet – is the most beautiful, fairest…
